About Student Leadership Johns Creek

Student Leadership Johns Creek was created in 2012 as a result of the success of Leadership Johns Creek. Student Leadership Johns Creek is a collaborative effort of our business and civic community to provide leadership training to our local youth.

Student Leadership Johns Creek program begins in August each year with a one-day team training event and will conclude in April with a graduation for the second year students who receive graduation cords (which they can wear at their respective schools graduation) and certificates of completion. In March we celebrate our first-year students group projects and announce our newest class.  Applications will be available to rising sophomores and juniors on December 1st each year.

and a little more.....

Student Leadership Johns Creek is a program for emerging leaders in their sophomore and junior years. Students apply in December of their freshman or sophomore years for the two-year program. Applicants are accepted from Centennial*, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek, Northview high schools, Mt. Pisgah School*, Providence Christian Academy*, Innovation Academy* and NEW IN 2024 Alpharetta High School*. (* do not need to be a resident of Johns Creek)

The program is run by an advisory council under the board of directorship of Leadership Johns Creek, a 501c3 non-profit in collaboration with Fulton County Schools.

In year one of this two-year leadership program, leadership skills will be developed through a series of structured learning experiences and then utilized in community service projects within Johns Creek. In the second year, students will have a more individualized focus, implementing the skills learned in year one to find leadership opportunities after high school and college.

Each year after a competitive application process, a class of approximately 100 young adults will be selected from area high schools to begin their 2-year commitment. They will be introduced to a core curriculum of leadership skills including goal setting, project management, team building, governmental process, shadowing skills, portfolio and resume building, and communication skills.

Tuition fees cover the participants' program costs, including the team building retreat, leadership training sessions, and all program day group activities and meals. Corporate and business sponsors help cover the remaining costs of the program.
